Melvin Gordon’s holdout appears to be nearing an end, but now we know of at least one team that he had interest in going to instead.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Wednesday that the Los Angeles Chargers running back was open to a trade to the Houston Texans early in the process but that the Chargers never made any sort of Gordon trade a viable option.
The interest made sense because the Texans lost starting running back Lamar Miller to a torn left ACL before the season started. Jahleel Addae, Gordon’s former teammate on the Chargers, is also currently a safety for the Texans.
As for the Pro Bowler Gordon himself, his holdout could be over soon, so the Chargers may have made the right call in refusing to cave in and trade him.
