Melvin Gordon tells Chargers to give him new contract or trade him

Melvin Gordon

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is hoping for a new contract prior to the season, and he has given the team an ultimatum.

Gordon’s agent told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the 26-year-old intends to hold out from training camp if he does not get a new deal. He will also demand that the Chargers trade him.

Gordon is set to make $5.6 million in the final year of his rookie contract next season. Though he has battled some knee injuries, he has been one of the most productive backs in the league when healthy. Gordon totaled 1,375 yards from scrimmage last season and scored 14 touchdowns in just 12 games.

This isn’t the first time Gordon has expressed that he wants a new contract, and he is obviously serious about it.
