Miami Dolphins beat Patriots on miracle final play

Dolphins miracle

You know those last-second desperation hook-and-ladder type plays teams run on the final play of the game that never work? The Miami Dolphins ran one of those on Sunday and somehow scored to beat the New England Patriots on the final play of the game.

The Dolphins had a 1st-and-10 from the 31 with 7 seconds left down 33-28. Ryan Tannehill completed a pass to Kenny Stills around the 46. He pitched back to DeVante Parker around the 45, who pitched to Kenyan Drake at midfield. Drake started to run and then looked to make a pitch himself before realizing he had some blocking down field and few defenders. He made a break for the end zone and was able to score to win the game.

Asked about the miracle touchdown after the game, Drake had a great answer.

“To tell you the truth, I just kind of blacked out. It worked to perfection.”

The miracle play will have a huge impact on the playoff picture. The Patriots drop to 9-4 and lose ground in the battle for home field in the AFC, while the Dolphins go to 7-6 and improve their spot in the wild card race.

Here was the celebration afterwards:
