Mike McDaniel and the Miami Dolphins are coming for one of their own.
Dolphins legend Dan Marino served as the honorary captain for the team during the coin toss prior to Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. While Marino was receiving an ovation from players and fans at Hard Rock Stadium, McDaniel was caught on a hot mic taunting the Hall of Fame quarterback.
The hilarious clip aired Tuesday night on the latest episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks.” McDaniel stood behind a smiling Marino and shouted, “Yeah, Dan Marino, we’re coming for your records, Dan! F— your records, Dan!” Be aware that the video contains an F-bomb.

McDaniel obviously has a good relationship with Marino, otherwise he would not feel comfortable saying that to him. The coach probably knows that Marino’s records are safe for now, too. Marino’s 5,084 passing yards and 48 touchdown passes in 1984 both remain franchise records despite the NFL being a far more pass-heavy league now than it was then.
Tua Tagovailoa has 4,214 passing yards with two games remaining, so he would have to go completely bananas to surpass 5,000 yards. He only has 26 touchdowns.
We already know McDaniel has the utmost respect for NFL legends. For evidence of that, look no further than the recent text message he sent to Peyton Manning. Dolphins fans should be happy to see their coach’s competitive side on full display.
