Mike Wallace has hilarious weight clause in Eagles contract
Mike Wallace signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles this season that included around $1 million guaranteed, but the deal also provides him the opportunity to make the easiest $585,000 of his career.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, Wallace’s contract includes a weight incentive that will pay him more than half-a-million dollars if he reports to the start of the offseason program on Monday at less than 250 pounds. That’s right — two, five, zero.

As Yates notes, Wallace was listed at 200 pounds last season. He would probably have to hit every barbecue festival in the country and mix in five bags of Doritos a day to gain 50 pounds over the course of the offseason, so the clause was basically free money.
We’ve seen weight incentives for players in past offseasons that make perfect sense, but this one is a bit of a head-scratcher. If the Eagles wanted to give Wallace an extra $585,000, they probably didn’t need a promise from him that he wouldn’t drown himself in Nutella for three months straight.
