The Chicago Bears intend to take a closer look at rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky this week.
Coach John Fox said Wednesday that Trubisky took first-team reps on Wednesday, and the No. 2 overall pick will also get at least one series with the starters in the second half of Sunday’s preseason game.
Fox also said, according to ESPN’s Jeff Dickerson, that there are no plans to reshuffle the depth chart, with Mike Glennon still considered the starter.
This probably doesn’t signal a shakeup is coming. At some point, the Bears need to have a look at Trubisky with the first team, just in case Glennon gets hurt or proves unacceptably ineffective. Given how his preseason started, some expect that last scenario to come to fruition, but he’ll almost certainly be starting Week 1 barring something shocking.
