Almost everyone has had a little fun at the expense of Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson over the past week. Burleson was involved in an unfortunate car accident last week during which he suffered a broken arm. It was later revealed that he crashed his SUV when he was trying to save a box of pizza from falling off his passenger seat, which is the part of the story that people can’t help but chuckle at.
On Tuesday, Burleson posted a few photos on Instagram that show he is lucky to be alive. Despite the severity of the accident, he still took the opportunity to poke fun at himself.
“I’m releasing these pix for 2 reasons: 1) I walked away from a totalled vehicle #Blessed 2) I have to hear all the pizza jokes…lol I’ll start-Yes I am the 5th Ninja Turtle. #LovePizza #LetTheJokesBegin.”
The pizza jokes are pretty funny, but the condition of Burleson’s car isn’t. While it’s unfortunate that he has to miss time with the arm injury, the photos are a reminder that Burleson should consider himself a very lucky man.
