Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles left Thursday’s preseason game against the New England Patriots with a shoulder strain.
Foles suffered the injury in the second quarter on a strip-sack by Adrian Clayborn that the Patriots returned for a touchdown. Foles’ throwing shoulder was hit as he was getting ready to throw.

The Eagles could be in a tough spot for Week 1 depending on how Foles’ injury turns out. Carson Wentz is recovering from a torn ACL and is not sure if he will be ready for the team’s opener against Atlanta on Sept. 6. Nate Sudfeld is the team’s No. 3 QB and could be in line for a start if either of the top QBs are unable to play.
