The Washington Commanders are not getting Jayden Daniels back in action anytime soon, but they received good news on the quarterback ahead of their Week 3 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
Commanders general manager Adam Peters recently gave a notable update on Daniels, who suffered a dislocated left elbow in Washington’s 37-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
“As of right now surgery is not on the table and we have not discussed IR,” Peters said in a recent appearance on the Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan.
While Daniels is not expected to be under center against the reigning Super Bowl champion Seahawks on Sunday at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md., Peters’ statement on the former LSU signal-caller is much better than what many initially feared.
If Daniels isn’t put on injured reserve, it would open the door for a return to action within the next four weeks. Granted that he’d be sidelined for the Seahawks game, there is a possibility that he’ll be back on the field before Washington’s Week 7 bye. The Commanders will face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4, the New York Giants in Week 5 and the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6.
For now, Washington (0-2) will rely on Marcus Mariota to handle the quarterback chores. Mariota went 11/16 for 111 passing yards and a touchdown after Daniels left the Dallas game.
