Greg Olsen missed several games last season after undergoing surgery to repair a fracture in his foot, and he is dealing with a similar injury to start off 2018.
The Carolina Panthers confirmed on Tuesday that Olsen re-fractured his foot. He will opt for rehab over surgery, but the star tight end is expected to miss several games. The team says he will be evaluated on a month-to-month basis, which makes the injury sound fairly long-term.

Olsen underwent surgery last season after breaking his foot in Week 2 and was able to return later in the year, but the stress fracture — also called a Jones fracture — that he suffered is one that carries a significant risk of re-injury. The Panthers seemed convinced Olsen was healthy during the offseason with the new contract they gave him, but Cam Newton will once again be without his favorite target for a lengthy period of time.
