Patrick Mahomes suddenly got a ton of attention after Malik Willis’ wild first pitch before an MLB game on Friday.
Willis, the new Miami Dolphins quarterback, embarrassingly botched his ceremonial toss before the Miami Marlins’ game against the Philadelphia Phillies at LoanDepot Park in Miami Fla.
The viral video of that pitch prompted former Indianapolis Colts defensive back Darius Butler to share an old video of Mahomes bungling a first pitch from way back in 2016.

The Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback later responded to Butler’s post, which has since gone viral itself.
“Chill, chill, chill. Thought we deleted all footage of this,” Mahomes wrote on X, adding three laughing emojis to emphasize that he did not take the post personally.
Mahomes has baseball experience and, in fact, pitched for the Texas Tech Red Raiders during his time in college, but somehow couldn’t get anywhere near the strike zone on that ceremonial pitch.
But that was in 2016, and he’s since won three Super Bowl titles and two NFL Most Valuable Player awards. Mahomes, the son of former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes, can surely just laugh it off.
If anything, one lesson Mahomes could learn here is that the internet never forgets.
