Arizona Cardinals standout cornerback Patrick Peterson wants out, according to a report.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday that Peterson “desperately” wants out of Arizona and has asked for a trade, but for now, the Cardinals are resisting.
Cardinals’ All Pro CB Patrick Peterson has asked Arizona to deal him by the Oct. 30 trade deadline, per league sources. Peterson feels as if the situation is deteriorating and continues to reaffirm to others that he “desperately” wants out, per source.

Cardinals continue to insist they’re not trading him – and Peterson continues to request a trade. https://t.co/zioVWT865D

One of the game’s premier defensive backs, Peterson’s availability would certainly shake up the trade market. The seven-time Pro Bowler has consistently won high praise from coaches and remains a shutdown corner in his prime, still just 28 years old.
The Cardinals will understandably try to stand in the way of a trade, and he’s signed through 2020, so the ball is really in their court. At 1-6 and clearly going nowhere, it’s hard to tell if they’d really want to stand pat and risk Peterson growing increasingly disgruntled, especially if someone offers a first-round pick or a similarly large haul for him.
