Harvin tore the labrum in his hip while working out in the offseason. The Seattle Seahawks acquired him in March in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings and were hoping he would be able to avoid surgery. There is no word yet on the timetable for his recovery, but there was initial speculation that Harvin would be out for the season if he needed surgery. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport says Harvin may be out 3-4 months.
Harvin signed a six-year, $67 million contract with the Seahawks, including $25.5 million guaranteed. He was expected to be one of the team’s top offensive weapons.
