Video: Questionable pass interference call helps Chiefs against Titans

The Kansas City Chiefs picked up a huge first down late in the AFC Championship on a call that will not sit well with the Tennessee Titans.

The Titans had the Chiefs in a 3rd and long situation from their own 19 with 3:59 left. Tennessee was down by 11 and one play away from getting off the field with the chance to at least try to make a comeback when Tramaine Brock was called for pass interference against Sammy Watkins in what turned out to be a 41-yard penalty.

Brock seemed to be penalized mostly because of his failure to turn around and play the ball, but both Brock and Watkins seemed to have their hands on each other. The foul meant Kansas City successfully ran about two more minutes off the clock and essentially wiped out the Titans’ chances of a comeback.

The call was definitely controversial, with many watching feeling it was not worthy of a flag. The Titans declined to challenge, possibly because nearly every pass interference challenge has ended the same way since the rule was introduced.

The Titans probably weren’t going to come back at that stage of the game anyway. That flag, however, will leave a bad taste in their fans’ mouths.
