Randy Gregory’s meeting with an NFL doctor on Thursday apparently went well, which seems to spell good news for the Dallas Cowboys.

Gregory is in Phase 3 of the NFL’s substance abuse program, which means he is subjected to drug testing and evaluation from medical professionals. He had a meeting with an NFL doctor in Chicago on Thursday, according to The Athletic’s Calvin Watkins.

A source tells @TheAthleticDFW Randy Gregory and his attorney met with NFL doctor today in Chicago. It’s part of being in Phase 3 of drug program.

Watkins says things were fine with Gregory and the team expects him to be ready for Week 1.

A source told @TheAthleticDFW everything is fine with Randy Gregory and his meeting today was normal. Cowboys officials expect him for Week 1.

Gregory has only played in 14 games since being drafted in the second round by the Cowboys in 2015 due to multiple suspensions. He was reinstated by the NFL last month after being suspended for the 2017 season.
