Ravens add 4-time Pro Bowler to playoff roster
The Baltimore Ravens announced on Wednesday that they have waived Melvin Gordon, and they are replacing the veteran with another former Pro Bowl running back.
Dalvin Cook has been signed to the Ravens’ 53-man roster, according to his agent. The 28-year-old is expected to make his debut with the team in Saturday’s Divisional Round playoff game against the Houston Texans.
Cook, who made the Pro Bowl every season from 2019-2022 with the Minnesota Vikings, was waived by the New York Jets earlier this month so he could join a Super Bowl contender. He then signed a practice-squad deal with the Ravens, who obviously believe he can provide more value than Gordon.
The Ravens have been leaning on Gus Edwards and Justice Hill after JK Dobbins suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1. Cook is unlikely to play a major role against Houston, but he could see some touches in short-yardage situations.
Cook had 67 rushes for 214 yards over 15 games with the Jets. He signed a 1-year deal with the team prior to the season that had the potential to be worth nearly $9 million, but he was nowhere near as productive as New York hoped he would be.
