Ravens working out QB Josh Johnson after RG3 injury

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens will be giving free agent quarterback Josh Johnson a look, according to a report.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday night that the Ravens are working out Johnson. The news comes a day after backup quarterback Robert Griffin III suffered a fractured thumb that will reportedly keep him out 4-8 weeks.

Lamar Jackson is slated to be Baltimore’s starting quarterback, and Griffin was the No. 2 QB. Sixth-round pick Trace McSorley is third on the depth chart, but he is a rookie and may not be ready to serve as a backup.

Johnson, 33, has seen stints in the NFL dating back to 2009. He actually played in four games last season for the injury-depleted Redskins, even leading them to a win against the Jaguars. Like Jackson, Griffin and McSorley, he is a mobile quarterback, which should make him a fit for the team’s offense.
