Case Keenum lasted roughly a quarter and a half in Sunday’s game against the New York Giants before he was benched.
With the Washington Redskins down 14-0 midway through the second quarter, Keenum was benched in favor of rookie Dwayne Haskins.
Dwayne Haskins Jr. is now Washington’s QB.

The decision was overdue, as Keenum had already been intercepted once in Sunday’s game. He was also consistently missing open receivers downfield.

Keenum spent part of the week in a walking boot thanks to a foot injury. It’s not clear whether it may have played a role in his poor performance, but Keenum has been bad all year. Coach Jay Gruden’s insistence that he was the quarterback who gave the team the best chance to win never looked particularly convincing, and Gruden himself seems to have realized that the situation was untenable.
