Rex Ryan, Marc Trestman reportedly looking to pair up

Marc Trestman

Should Rex Ryan earn another NFL head coaching job for the 2015 season, he may already have his offensive coordinator lined up.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Ryan has been telling teams during interviews that his offensive coordinator will be Marc Trestman, who was fired by the Chicago Bears after the season. Ryan and Trestman reportedly want to pair up and Rapoport describes the potential of working with Trestman as one of Rex’s “strongest pitches.”

The prospect of Ryan and Trestman coaching together is certainly intriguing. While Ryan had success when he first took over as head coach of the Jets, offense was always an issue for his teams. Trestman, on the other hand, is considered one of the best offensive minds in the game.

When you take into consideration some of the internal issues the Bears had this season, you have to wonder if Trestman is suited for head coaching. Marketing themselves as a pair could be very beneficial for Ryan and Trestman.
