Robert Griffin III is reportedly set to visit with the New York Jets.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Griffin will spent Friday with the Jets, his first known visit of the offseason.
Perhaps the Jets are just covering their bases in the event that Ryan Fitzpatrick leaves, or perhaps their ideal scenario is to have Griffin as insurance for Fitzpatrick. Recall that they still have Geno Smith, so it seems unlikely that they’d try to carry that many quarterbacks when all of them will want to start.
As for Griffin, there’s no way of knowing what assurances he’d receive from the Jets, but he certainly wants to start somewhere, hence the previous links to the vacant quarterback jobs in Denver and Los Angeles. This may just be due diligence on his part.
