Richard Sherman says Earl Thomas wants to sign with Cowboys

Earl Thomas

Earl Thomas made it fairly clear that he wants to play for the Dallas Cowboys when he told them to “come get me” after the Seattle Seahawks lost to them two seasons ago, and all indications are that his desire remains unchanged.

Thomas is coming off a fractured leg that he suffered back in October, but there should still be plenty of teams interested in signing him. Ex-teammate Richard Sherman said Wednesday that he is hoping the San Francisco 49ers will be one of them, but he is confident Thomas is heading to Dallas if the offers are equal.

Between the injury and the fact that he will turn 30 in May, signing Thomas would obviously come with risks. That said, he looked like his usual self when he returned from his holdout early last season, recording three interceptions in just three-plus games and flying all over the field to make plays. The Cowboys’ defense was vastly improved last season, and a healthy Thomas could make it even better.

One thing we know is that Thomas won’t be back with Seattle, as the salute he gave the team when he was carted off the field last season said it all. Pete Carroll and the Seahawks tried their best to downplay the exchange Thomas had with the Cowboys at the end of the 2017 season, but the Texas native has his sights set on joining his hometown team.
