Carolina Panthers running back Rico Dowdle once again dominated on Sunday, this time in a revenge game against his former team.
Dowdle tallied 239 total yards from scrimmage during the Panthers’ 30-27 win over the Dallas Cowboys at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. on Sunday. It marked the second consecutive week Dowdle has achieved a 200-yard game, but perhaps more importantly, this one came against his former team.
During the buildup to Sunday’s game, Dowdle warned that his former teammates needed to “buckle up.” After his performance, he issued a four-word statement about the game.
“They wasn’t buckled up,” Dowdle told reporters after the game.
Dowdle ran for 183 yards on 30 carries. He also caught four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. All of that came a week after he ran for 206 yards against the Miami Dolphins, so Dallas really should have been more ready for this sort of performance.
The Cowboys opted not to re-sign Dowdle at the end of last season, even though he ran for 1,079 yards for them in 2024. He wound up landing with the Panthers and has seized on his chance with Chuba Hubbard out injured. The Cowboys would probably love to have production like Dowdle’s right now.
