Robert Flores: First Take criticizes Cam Newton’s dancing because he’s black
ESPN anchor Robert Flores on Monday called out those who have criticized Cam Newton for dancing after scoring touchdowns this season. In doing so, Flores took a direct shot at his employer and some of his coworkers.
The comment came while Flores was narrating highlights from the Bills-Chiefs game, during which Travis Kelce scored a touchdown and broke into a flamboyant celebration. Flores noted that there has been no outrage over Kelce’s end zone antics on shows like ESPN’s own “First Take.” Why? In Flores’ opinion, Kelce didn’t catch heat because he is white.

That’s quite the bomb drop, but Flores is hardly the only person who feels that way. Some would argue that Newton is criticized more because he is a quarterback and MVP candidate. Plenty of others agree with Flores.
Earlier this month, Newton said opposing teams should keep him out of the end zone if they don’t want to see him dance. The same rule applies to Kelce.
