Watch: Robert Woods gets lucky on controversial catch

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods made a big 18-yard catch in the second quarter of Super Bowl LIII, but it wasn’t clear whether it should have counted.

There was some doubt whether Woods got both feet down in bounds after coming down with the Jared Goff pass, but the ruling on the field was that he did. The Rams hurried to get the next play off, and curiously, Patriots coach Bill Belichick didn’t throw the challenge flag in time.

Perhaps Belichick figured that there wouldn’t be enough evidence to overturn the call on the field, as it was very close. There wasn’t a lot of time to think the decision through either, as the Rams were quite quick in getting to the line.

Ultimately, the play didn’t end up mattering that much. The Rams ended up punting on the drive.
