Ryan Fitzpatrick: Benching from Jets inspired me
Being benched in favor of Geno Smith may be the best thing to happen to Ryan Fitzpatrick this season.
Fitzpatrick entered the Jets’ game on Sunday after Smith left with an injury and led New York to a 24-16 victory. He went 9 of 14 for 120 yards, a touchdown an no interceptions.
After the game, Fitzpatrick said the disrespect from the Jets’ organization in the form of his benching served as a kick in the rear for him.
Fitzpatrick said he thinks the owner coach and GM don't believe in him anymore. Said he thinks he should start every week.

“I think I should start every week,” Fitzpatrick said after the game, via the New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta. “I play better as an underdog p—ed off.”
Again, this could turn out to be a great development for the Jets. Following a 31-touchdown season last year, Fitzpatrick struggled this season and has thrown 11 interceptions, including six in one game. Clearly he hasn’t been the best version of himself, but maybe this will get him on track for the future.
