The New York Jets may be dropping more hints indicating that Sam Darnold has a good chance of being their Week 1 starter.
According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Darnold received the bulk of the Jets’ practice reps on Sunday, ahead of veterans Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater.

Darnold was excellent in his preseason debut Friday, going 13-of-18 for 96 yards and a touchdown. It’s only one game, but it was a performance that really increased the hype around the rookie. Receiving the most reps at practice could be another sign that the Jets are ready to put even more responsibility on his shoulders.
There have been report that the Jets are ready to hand the offense over to Darnold as long as he looks capable during preseason. He certainly did so in his first test, and the team seems to be responding in kind. Their second preseason tilt could prove telling.
