Report: Sammy Watkins likely needs second foot surgery, would end season

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins appears to have serious problems with his foot.

After a surgery to repair a stress fracture during the offseason, Watkins is reportedly visiting with Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina to determine whether a second surgery is necessary, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The belief is that another surgery will be necessary, and that would rule Watkins out for the remainder of the season.

Watkins played in the first two games of the season, but wasn’t much of a factor, tallying six total receptions for 63 yards in those games. His foot never stopped bothering him.

Watkins was placed on injured reserve Friday, though the belief at that point was rest would alleviate the issues. Clearly, something has changed in that outlook.
