Sammy Watkins experiencing soreness in foot again

sammy-watkins

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins just cannot seem to escape the foot problems that have been ailing him since training camp.

Just days after he returned to game action for the first time since Week 2, Watkins missed practice on Wednesday after telling trainers he was experiencing soreness in his foot. Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports that Watkins was initially expected to get a limited practice in like he did all last week, but he instead needed to sit out.

Watkins played 25 of 55 possible offensive snaps in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and the hope was that the Bills could increase his reps as his conditioning improved and he got back to game speed. If Watkins suffered yet another setback with his surgically-repaired foot, that is unlikely to happen.

When Watkins experienced soreness in his foot at the start of the season, there was concern he could be shut down until 2017. However, doctors told him he did not need another surgery and would simply need time to let the foot heal. The fact that it is still sore is not a good sign.

Between the surgery, ensuing soreness and minor incident he had in practice earlier this year, Watkins simply cannot catch a break.
