Bronny James is not the only NBA superstar’s son playing in the league this season. Scotty Pippen Jr. on Friday etched his name in the history books alongside his father Scottie Pippen.
Pippen Jr. got his first start of the season during the Grizzlies’ home matchup against the Washington Wizards at FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn. With Ja Morant nursing an injury, Pippen Jr. got the keys to the offense in the 128-104 Grizzlies win.
Pippen recorded the first triple-double of his career with a stat line of 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists across 28 minutes of action. The feat meant that he and his dad Scottie became the first father-and-son duo in NBA history to record a triple-double.

The young Pippen still has a ways to go to catch up to his Chicago Bulls legend father. Scottie tallied 17 triple-doubles in the regular season and 4 in the playoffs throughout his 17-year NBA career. But based on the Grizzlies guard’s performance this season, he may have a few more triple-doubles ahead of him.
Through 10 games this season, Scotty Pippen Jr. has averaged 11.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game. Pippen has been a stat-sheet stuffer and will likely continue to play a big role if Morant spends more time on the sidelines.
