Report: Seahawks have expressed trade interest in 2 veteran QBs
The Seattle Seahawks acquired Drew Lock as part of their trade that sent Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, but they are still in the market for a quarterback.
USA Today’s Josina Anderson reported on Friday that the Seahawks are exploring ways to add an experienced veteran starting quarterback. They have reached out to the Cleveland Browns about Baker Mayfield and Atlanta Falcons about Matt Ryan.
The Seahawks are likely waiting to see what happens with Deshaun Watson. The three-time Pro Bowler is said to be deciding between the Falcons and New Orleans Saints, though it sounds like Atlanta is the favorite. Ryan was due a roster bonus on Friday, but he and the Falcons agreed to extend the deadline to next Tuesday. It’s possible Atlanta already has a deal in place for Watson and is trying to find a new team for Ryan before finalizing anything.
If the Falcons do trade Ryan, he may have a different team in mind that the Seahawks.
Mayfield confirmed on Thursday that he wants out of Cleveland. The Browns pursued trades for Watson, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson this offseason. They claim they are committed to Mayfield for 2022 after missing out on the trio of stars, but Mayfield wants to move on.
NFL teams are playing a game of musical quarterbacks this offseason, and it may be a while before the game ends.
