The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for what many would call a “trap game” in Week 12, but one of their starters claims he does not even know what that term means.

Steelers cornerback Donte Jackson was asked this week if he is concerned about his team’s Thursday night game against the Cleveland Browns being a potential trap. With Pittsburgh coming off a huge win over the Baltimore Ravens and then facing the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13, the thought is that they might not take the 2-8 Browns seriously enough.

Jackson says that will not be an issue for him because he spent the first six years of his career with the Carolina Panthers.

“What’s a trap game? What that mean?” Jackson asked. “I played in Carolina, bro, for a long time. I’m not familiar with trap games.”

Jackson was obviously joking. He knows exactly what a trap game is. The difference for him now is that he is on the team that has to be cautious about getting trapped. When he was in Carolina, the Panthers would have been the ones doing the trapping.

The Steelers improved to 8-2 with their win over Baltimore on Sunday. Few coaches in the NFL are better at preparing their teams than Mike Tomlin, and a stat that went viral after the Ravens game was a reminder of that.

Cleveland might be one of the worst teams in the NFL, but AFC North games are almost always competitive. Tomlin and company are well aware of that.
