Texans, Redskins fight during joint practice (Video)

Texans-Redskins-brawl

The Houston Texans and Washington Redskins got together for a joint training camp practice on Saturday, and tempers boiled over like it was Week 10 of the regular season.

Multiple fights broke out between the two teams. Things started to get chippy after Vince Wilfork absolutely destroyed a Redskins offensive lineman and blew up a rushing play in the backfield. The first brawl broke out moments later.

Play eventually resumed, but it wasn’t long before punches were being thrown again.

Then there was a third set of cheap shots.

As John Breech of CBSSports.com noted, Texans reporter Tania Ganguli said the Redskins were taking exception to the level of intensity Houston players were showing in a scrimmage. Not surprisingly, J.J. Watt was one of the players who was giving 110 percent.

HBO is still filming the Texans for its latest season of “Hard Knocks,” so I’m sure the behind-the-scenes footage of the scrappy practice will make for great television. Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon claimed the two teams planned the fights ahead of time in an attempt to get practice to end early, though he may have been joking.

That was a lot more intense than the fight we saw between these two teammates earlier this week. If you ask me, it was a great reminder that meaningful football is just around the corner.
