Tim Tebow reportedly tried to break up Aaron Hernandez bar fight in 2007
One of the many “Aaron Hernandez has always been a jackass” stories that surfaced on Tuesday concerns the tight end’s alleged involvement in a 2007 Gainesville bar fight. In the fight, Hernandez reportedly ruptured a bouncer’s ear drum with a punch to the head. The story has been circulating rapidly since the Wall Street Journal obtained the police report, but one fantastic detail may have been missing from their story.
According to Iliana Limón Romero of the Orlando Sentinel, officers arrived at the scene of the incident at around 1:00 a.m. and could not find Hernandez, who was 17 at the time. So who do you think they interviewed? If you guessed Tim Tebow, God bless you.
‘Tebow stated that he witnessed the dispute,’ the officer wrote. ‘… Tebow stated that he went over to try to help resolve the conflict.’
Tebow went on to say he urged Hernandez to leave peacefully and tried to make arrangements to pay the bill.
Two hours later, another officer found Hernandez and spoke with him about the incident. Tebow was present during the interview.”
And finally, Tebow gets himself involved. We all knew Hernandez and Tebow were teammates at the University of Florida, but we also knew there’s no way Tebow would roll with the type of people Hernandez is associated with. That being said, a report that Tebow once tried to stop Hernandez from doing something stupid is one that has the ability to break the internet.
Hernandez avoided trouble because he was a minor at the time, despite police recommending he be charged with battery. It is unclear whether or not the witness agreed to testify, which may have complicated things. If only Tebow had gotten there a few minutes sooner…
