Time Warner Cable customers in Southern California lost the standard definition feed on FOX during the Super Bowl on Sunday, and many customers complained and asked for a refund.
Time Warner tweeted to notify customers about the problem:
@TWC_SoCal LA Customers: We're investigating an issue w/KTTV (FoxSD) feed. FoxHD appears to be OK. We're working to resolve ASAP. ^KT

An hour and 40 minutes or so later, they tweeted to say the issue was resolved.
We have resolved a technical issue with the SD signal on KTTV (FOX) and apologize for the inconvenience to our customers.

CBS LA says Time Warner blamed the issue on the malfunction of a piece of equipment that is used to process video signals.
You want to know the worst part? A Time Warner official said the typical refund on one’s bill would be around 53 cents for the outage. Right, like that’s going to help. I mean let the cable go out any other time. Let there be a problem during the daytime during the week when nobody is watching. Busted signal during “The Chew” or Oprah? No big deal. But when it goes out during the Super Bowl, that’s a problem. That’s like the one time you need it working. There should be a like a sliding refund scale and customers better get like $5 back for having the Super Bowl ruined.
