Report: Tom Coughlin withdraws his name from consideration with Eagles
Just when it appeared the Eagles were close to snagging a potential future Hall of Fame coach away from an NFC East rival, Tom Coughlin has decided he would not be a fit in Philadelphia.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Coughlin has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Eagles head coaching job.

The Eagles were reportedly making a strong push for Coughlin as of Thursday morning, so it’s unclear why it didn’t work out. The 69-year-old coach has not ruled out retirement, though it seemed clear in his final press conference with the Giants that he has more left to offer.
You have to wonder if Coughlin withdrawing his name in Philly will have any impact on the 49ers coaching search, as they had reportedly narrowed their decision down to two big-name candidates before we heard anything about Coughlin bowing out in Philly. For what it’s worth, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Coughlin would not want to move that far away from his family.
