New details have emerged regarding CBS analyst Tony Romo’s recent OWI arrest, and they are not particularly flattering for the former NFL quarterback.
Romo was, at least initially, uncooperative with police after he was pulled over, according to Edward Lewis of the California Post. Court records indicate that Romo received a citation for refusing to take a field sobriety test after being arrested. An arrest report indicated that Romo eventually took the test and “performed poorly.”
The citation is being treated as a traffic violation in Wisconsin and not a criminal charge. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 21.
Romo was arrested overnight Thursday in Milwaukee County, Wisc. He was booked and released by police and was cited for driving while intoxicated. He has yet to make any public comments about the arrest, and withdrew from a scheduled appearance at the M&P Group Texas State Open golf tournament that is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
Romo is still in the middle of the 10-year, $180 million contract he signed with CBS in 2020. He spent 13 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys prior to that job.
