Travis Kelce statistical streak ends due to big Chiefs decision
A remarkable Travis Kelce statistical streak will come to an end on Sunday after the Kansas City Chiefs opted to rest him for the season finale.
Kelce was officially inactive for the Chiefs’ road game against the Los Angeles Chargers with the team locked into the No. 3 seed in the AFC. The Chiefs made the decision even though Kelce is just 16 receiving yards short of 1,000 on the season, thus breaking a seven-year streak.

Obviously, the statistical mark is a secondary concern for the Chiefs, as they need to stay healthy before the playoffs. Still, it is a fairly unfortunate way for such an impressive streak to end.
The flipside is that Kelce had plenty of chances to reach the mark in previous games. He was held to just 16 receiving yards in Week 17 and hasn’t even had a 50-yard game since Week 14. Just imagine if Kadarius Toney hadn’t blown this play for him.
