It took 159 passes, but Patrick Mahomes has finally thrown his first interception of the season in Week 5.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was picked by Jacksonville Jaguars safety Tashaun Gipson late in the second quarter Sunday, the second time in his career he’s turned the ball over in that manner but the first in 2018. While it was bound to happen eventually, that didn’t make it any less potent as fodder for jokes on Twitter.

On the very first play after the pick, Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles fumbled, and the Chiefs recovered. Mahomes’s suffering was short-lived.
The second-year quarterback has been setting records this season with his play. Expect him to shake off that first interception pretty quickly.
