One NFL Draft hopeful at quarterback seems to have firmly cemented himself as a first round pick in next month’s NFL Draft.
In an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter addressed rumors that some NFL teams have Alabama’s Ty Simpson as the top quarterback on their draft boards. While Schefter was unwilling to go that far, he suggested that Simpson has firmly established himself as a first-round selection.
“The one thing I can say confidently right now in talking to front offices, and it’s not going out on a limb, Ty Simpson will be a first-round draft pick,” Schefter said.

Simpson has seemingly trended up throughout the NFL Draft process. The former Alabama quarterback threw for 3,567 yards with 28 touchdowns and five interceptions for the Crimson Tide last season, and NFL teams like what they have seen and heard from him during workouts as well.
Simpson has a rather unusual dream destination in the draft that might actually be plausible. It remains to be seen just how high he might go, but quarterbacks are always in high demand, and it would not be a huge surprise to see him go higher than expected if someone really believes in him.
