Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill raised some eyebrows with a shady social media post on Saturday, but there is a bit of a catch to what he said.

A meme making its way around social media challenged people to name a player who was hyped up by fans but did not actually have that much skill. Hill took note and issued his own response by naming longtime wide receiver Wes Welker as his choice.

At first glance, this looks very shady on Hill’s part. However, there is a bit more to this than meets the eye. Welker has been Hill’s wide receivers coach in Miami for each of the last two seasons. This is almost certainly Hill having some good-natured fun at his coach’s expense, though that did not stop some people from taking it seriously.

For what it’s worth, last year, Welker called Hill the best receiver he had ever been around.

Welker was not the most physically gifted wide receiver, but he still made five Pro Bowl appearances and was twice selected as an All-Pro. Maybe Hill really does think Welker was overhyped, but more likely, this is all a joke.
