UConn needed one final stop Saturday to beat Temple. The Huskies got the stop they needed and a whole lot more.
UConn held a precarious 23-20 lead over Temple in the closing seconds at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Conn.
The game came down to one last play as Temple had 4th-and-1 at UConn’s 1-yard line. The visitors ran a tush push play to try shoving in a game-winning touchdown.
But as Owls quarterback Forrest Brock tried to squeeze his way into the end zone, the ball cartoonishly squirted away from the dogpile. Huskies cornerback Jordan Wright picked it up and ran all the way to the other end zone for a touchdown.

Wright could have simply slid down and ended the game right then and there. But when you have a shot at a 96-yard scoop-and-score with minimal risk of losing the game, you take it. The defensive TD sealed a 29-20 win for the Huskies.
No team had led by more than four points before UConn took a nine-point edge with the game clock at zero.
The win preserved UConn’s unbeaten record at home. The Huskies improved to 4-0 within the friendly confines of Pratt & Whitney Stadium and will remain home for their next three contests.
