Yannick Ngakoue gets into it with Jaguars owner’s son on Twitter, calls him ‘spoiled’

Yannick Ngakoue

Yannick Ngakoue wants out of Jacksonville, and the star defensive end appears to be going to great lengths to get the Jaguars to grant him his wish.

Right around the time a report surfaced on Monday that the Jaguars have received no trade offers for Ngakoue, the 25-year-old took to Twitter to say he is “tired of the back and forth” and tell the team to set him free. Ngakoue then got into it with Jaguars owner Shad Khan’s son Tony, who is part of the team’s front office. Ngakoue accused Tony Khan of hiding from the situation and called him “spoiled.” Khan then fired back by essentially telling Ngakoue he’s hurting his own trade value.

Here’s the exchange:

Ngakoue has made it clear he has no interest in remaining with Jacksonville, but that didn’t stop the team from placing the franchise tag on him. The Jags are now looking to trade Ngakoue, but teams don’t want to give up much for a player whom they will need to sign to a massive extension once they acquire him.

Jacksonville has had one of the best defensive lines in football over the past three seasons, and Ngakoue’s presence has been a big reason for that. The former third-round pick recorded eight sacks last season and has 37.5 through his first four years in the NFL. However, the Jags appear to be intent on rebuilding their defense with cheaper options, as they have already traded away defensive tackle Calais Campbell and top cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye.

In addition to shopping Ngakoue, the Jaguars also appear to be having some issues trying to trade another star player. Khan and the rest of the team’s executives have a lot on their plates, but Ngakoue wants his situation resolved as soon as possible.
