Ernie Els seven-putted for a 10 at the Masters (Video)
Ernie Els got things started at the 2016 Masters on Thursday in the worst possible way imaginable. How bad are we talking? How does a seven-putt for a 10 on the first hole sound?
Els had two feet — that’s right, two feet — left for par after hitting his approach shot. He somehow proceeded to miss his next six putts. You really have to see it to believe it:

Did Ernie Els place a bet at some casino on Ernie Els getting a 10 on the first hole? If not, I have no idea how that was even possible.
For what it’s worth, Els is prone to the yips and has done similar things in the past. He carded a triple-bogey on the first hole of the British Open two years ago with another putting disaster, which you can see here.
The 10 was the worst score ever recorded at Augusta National’s first hole. The previous “record” was an 8.
