Former PGA Tour winner Grayson Murray died suddenly on Saturday, the Tour announced.

In a statement, the PGA Tour did not release any details of Murray’s death, but said tour play would continue at the request of Murray’s parents.

“We were devastated to learn – and are heartbroken to share – that PGA TOUR player Grayson Murray passed away this morning. I am at a loss for words,” commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement. “The PGA TOUR is a family, and when you lose a member of your family, you are never the same. We mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones.

“I reached out to Grayson’s parents to offer our deepest condolences, and during that conversation, they asked that we continue with tournament play. They were adamant that Grayson would want us to do so. As difficult as it will be, we want to respect their wishes.”

The 30-year-old Murray emerged on the tour in 2017, where he won the Barbasol Championship as a rookie. After a few seasons of struggles, he was a winner again in 2024, winning the Sony Open in Hawaii via playoff. At that point, his World Golf ranking rose to No. 46, a career high.

Murray had openly discussed his struggles with anxiety and depression. He sought treatment for alcohol addiction in 2021, and said in January that he was eight months sober at that time.

Murray had been poised to play in this weekend’s Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, but withdrew during the second round on Friday, citing an illness.
