John Daly is no stranger to the PGA record books, but there are some marks he’d undoubtedly like to have back.
On Friday, during the first round of the Sanford International at the Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls, Daly set an ugly PGA Tour Champions record by posting a 19 on the par-5 12th hole.

Originally recorded as a 17, officials adjusted the score to a 19 after Daly signed his card.
Ironically, Daly also broke his own personal worst in the process. He previously took an 18 on the par-5 sixth hole in the 1998 Bay Hill Invitational.
Following his opening tee shot into the rough, Daly proceeded to hit seven balls into the hazard. When he finally cleared the water, he again landed in the rough and eventually wrapped the hole with an up-and-down for his 19.
Daly trudged on after that disaster, making a birdie and a bogey over the final six holes. He finished the day with an 18-over-par 88, which really doesn’t sound that bad when considering he was 14 over on one hole.
The Associated Press reportedly reached out to Daly for a comment, but he remains mum.
