The photos were published exactly three weeks after the incident took place outside of Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Police were redirecting traffic the morning before the second round of the golf major after an event worker was killed after being struck by a shuttle bus while crossing the street early in the morning.
Scheffler was unaware of what had occurred and tried to drive around the police in order to get to the golf club to prepare for his second round. The arresting officer alleges that he clung to Scheffler’s vehicle, was dragged 10-20 yards and suffered cuts, while his pants were ripped.
Scheffler was arrested on four charges, including reckless driving, criminal mischief, and second degree assault of a police officer. The latter charge is a felony.
The prosecutors in the case dropped the charges, believing it all was a big misunderstanding.
