Watch: Phil Mickelson penalized after hitting moving ball
Phil Mickelson appeared to have a moment of madness during Saturday’s U.S. Open action.
Mickelson inexplicably hit a moving ball on the 13th hole, ultimately taking a two-stroke penalty and ending up with a 10 on the hole.

Mickelson has had a rough tournament — he was +10 at the time and finished the day at +17 overall — and his putting in particular was way off. The FOX broadcasters speculated that it was a move out of pure frustration and defeat. It goes without saying that he’s well out of contention at this point.
Mickelson’s rough day is a continuing trend. This has been a very difficult tournament for some of the world’s most high-profile golfers.
