Venus Williams reportedly bothered by Serena’s partying
Venus Williams reportedly is bothered by all the partying of her sister Serena and that has supposedly created a rift between them.
The New York Post’s Page Six quotes an “insider” as a source for their report, which was published Wednesday evening.
“They’re not in a good place right now. Venus is angry with Serena,” an insider supposedly said during the US Open, according to Page Six.
Page Six says the sisters did not arrive together or acknowledge the other’s presence at a Taste of Tennis kickoff event prior to the US Open, which they cite as further evidence of the rift. They also point to the Instagram accounts of the sisters as additional evidence; it’s been a few months since either sister appeared in a photo on the other’s account.
While I hardly believe the Instagram part as evidence of the supposed rift, I can completely believe the overall report. Venus has been the quieter one of the two for several years and rarely makes headlines off the court. Serena, on the other hand, is often the subject of reports and even supposedly cancelled television engagements on Monday morning because she was out late celebrating her US Open win the day before. Maybe the two just have different lifestyles; siblings often do.
If they do have issues with each other, it hasn’t kept them from competing together as doubles teammates. They reached the quarterfinals of the US Open before losing, and they were knocked out early at Wimbledon when Serena displayed some bizarre, inexplicable behavior.
