Connor McDavid scored the winning goal in overtime to give Canada the 4 Nations championship on Thursday night, and he delivered a good interview afterwards.
McDavid, a three-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner, scored a little more than 8 minutes into the overtime period to give Canada a 3-2 victory over the United States in the sudden death. Mitch Marner passed the puck into a wide open McDavid in the slot, and McDavid buried a wrist shot to beat Connor Hellebuyck and the US.

McDavid was interviewed by ESPN after the win and shared how much the victory meant to his team.
“It means the world to our group as you can see. Everybody battled so hard all week. It was special,” McDavid said.
He was asked why the win meant so much even though the 4 Nations was just an exhibition.
“Because it’s best-on-best. It’s four great countries going at it … going against an amazing American team … you can’t ask for a better show than that,” McDavid said.
The tournament may have just been an exhibition, but you wouldn’t have known it based on the effort displayed by the players. They battled through injuries and gave their all like it was the Stanley Cup Playoff. Something magical happens when you put on the jersey to represent your country, as McDavid showed us.
