Evander Kane showed poor sportsmanship at end of loss to Panthers

Evander Kane slashes Matthew Tkachuk

The Florida Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers in convincing fashion to win the Stanley Cup on Tuesday night, and Evander Kane did not handle the loss well.

The Panthers won their second consecutive championship on Tuesday night with a 5-1 win over Edmonton in Game 6 at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Fla. Toward the end of the game, Kane made sure to get in a few final shots at Florida star Matthew Tkachuk.

Kane was ejected from Game 6 after he received a 10-minute game misconduct for slashing Tkachuk multiple times. The antics came with just over two minutes remaining.

Tkachuk and Kane had gotten into it multiple times throughout the Stanley Cup Final. It appeared that Kane did not like something that Tkachuk said to him in the closing minutes of Game 6, but none of that mattered to the referees.

After Kane was kicked out of the game, he reportedly chose not to return to the ice for the handshake line.

While we don’t know what Tkachuk said or if he said anything at all, the entire sequence was a bad look for Kane. The ejection seemed intentional, especially after seeing the second slash. Kane probably just did not want to stick around to watch the Panthers celebrate.
